My greatest
intimidation, which encumbers me from getting my thoughts together, and only
writers can relate to, are my readers. While many are quiet bookworms, the rest
are strident or censorious or faultfinding–ready to nitpick at all times. Even
with simple typographical errors or spacing issues, they’ve got everything to
say including disparaging remarks.
At times, readers tend
to be the expert in grammar as well. Fortunately, I was taught that writers are
no grammarians–we’re creative thinkers. So I’ve learned to listen to “me’’ and to
never let their words get under my skin again. No more intimidation!
